More game announcements continue to flood out of Microsoft's X05 event in Amsterdam; the latest batch concerns Xbox 360 iterations of Superman Returns from EA and Splinter Cell 4 from Ubisoft, as well as a choice of engine for Silicon Knights' Too Human. - EA has announced Superman Returns, developed by EA Tiburon in conjunction with Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment. The game will come out on current-generation systems as well as the next-generation Xbox 360 in time for next summer's film, directed by Bryan Singer. "The powerful Superman Returns property will be rightfully brought to gamers with a strong creative vision supported by compelling new technology so they can experience The Man of Steel's superpowers firsthand," said WBIE VP Jason Hall. - Another multiplatform release with a focus on the Xbox 360 version is Ubisoft's Splinter Cell 4, most likely a working title given that all Splinter Cell thus far have carried a subtitle rather than a number. Ubisoft showed a trailer which seemed to show a new version of the spies-vs.-mercenaries multiplayer the series has become famous for, though the company was cagey about details. The single-player game will also expand on the character of series star Sam Fisher when the game is released in spring 2006. - Silicon Knights, creators of the Xbox 360-exclusive Too Human, have confirmed that it will use Unreal Engine 3 as a game engine. Other games for the system using Epic's engine are Gears of War and the new Turok title from Buena Vista Games. Too Human is the long-in-development project from Silicon Knights, creators of Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain and Eternal Darkness; the project is planned as a trilogy for the Xbox 360.
