Microsoft says that this November saw the biggest European sales month for Xbox 360 since its 2005 launch, outselling Sony's PlayStation 3 across the territory while making significant gains in Span, France, and Italy. "November was a very significant milestone for Xbox -- we sold the most consoles ever in our history in Europe, and are outselling PlayStation 3 week-on-week across Europe," says Xbox EMEA regional vice president Chris Lewis, referring to data from market research group GfK Chart-Track. According to the company's data, sales for Xbox 360 were up 124 percent over the same period in the previous year, compared to Wii and PlayStation 3, which only saw year-over-year gains of 43 percent and 3 percent respectively. Lewis believes that consumers have "responded enthusiastically" to Microsoft's September price reduction across all Xbox 360 models, which brought its Xbox 360 Arcade bundles down to €179.99/£129.99 ($226/$190), making it the cheapest current generation home console in the territory. "Our strong partnerships with retail and with publishers have played a big role in this success," adds Lewis. "We are working closely with retail to ensure a steady supply of consoles throughout the Christmas season, and third-party games have been selling well on the Xbox 360 platform and providing great choice for consumers." He concluded, "In the current economic conditions, consumers are more cautious than ever and looking for more value for their entertainment spend. Xbox 360 delivers that value - we're now the best-value next-gen console on the market and this positive momentum indicates Xbox 360 is offering the right blend of gaming and entertainment experiences at the right price."
