According to estimates from financial analysts Southwest Securities, sales of the Xbox console in the US have more than doubled in the week since its $30 price cut. Curiously no indication is given of sales numbers before or after the cut, but if correct a 100% increase would put the weekly sales above the GameCube but still below the PlayStation 2. The improvement is less than that achieved by the GameCube after its more substantial price cut last year, but more than some had predicted, considering the relatively small drop in price. Further improvements in console sales are expected next week when a special $169 bundle with a copy of Halo and a specially branded Halo console will go on sale. Source: Reuters
