Former Zoo Digital COO Andy Scrivener has revealed plans to head a new independent production company named Zoo Interactive Entertainment, following the sale of Zoo Digital’s game division to former sales director Barry Hatch. The formation of the new studio follows the purchase of the business and assets of Zoo Interactive Video earlier this week. The team has already achieved considerable success with interactive DVDs titles in the UK, including titles themed around game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, soccer team Manchester United and Wallace and Gromit. New titles scheduled for release this year including a fourth Who Wants to be a Millionaire? DVD, BBC trivia show tie-in Test the Nation and game show license A Question of Sport. No plans have yet been announced to release titles aimed at markets outside the UK. “We’re delighted with this deal and thank the management team at Zoo Digital Group for their support in taking this great business private,” said MD Andy Scrivener, talking to trade magazine MCV. “We are well placed and motivated to build on the position of leadership we have developed over the past four years. We are preparing to tackle the content delivery challenges of the future and look forward to implementing them with the freedom that comes from being the UK’s newest video ‘indy’.”
