Zynga has updated the iTunes App Store edition of its free-to-play social farming sim FarmVille, adding native support for Apple's iPad tablet for the most-played Facebook game. Now available as a universal application that's also compatible with the iPhone and iPod Touch, Zynga's FarmVille boasts higher-resolution graphics when played on an iPad, along with a redesigned control scheme suited to the device's larger screen. Zynga's newest FarmVille app update also brings faster load times and support for the new Super Combine gameplay mechanic for all iOS devices. The update marks Zynga's first development effort for the iPad, and further expands FarmVille's existing audience of more than 16 million daily users. Zynga notes that the iPhone and iPod Touch version of FarmVille, first released in June, regularly ranks among the App Store's top free game downloads. "We want to reach people wherever they want to play the games they love, and deliver the most fun and social experience on every platform," said Zynga's president of studios Steven Chiang. "The iPad is a spectacular gaming device, and the new FarmVille app leverages its larger touch screen interface and enhanced graphics. FarmVille on the iPhone was an instant hit and now we are giving people another Apple device to play on."
