Social game developer Zynga is preparing a new RewardVille program that allows players to earn virtual currency by simply playing its titles, then spend that cash on in-game items. Due to launch in the coming weeks, the program requires users to sign up for a Zynga account and play a selection of supported games to earn "zPoints". The list of initially supported titles so far include FarmVille, FrontierVille, Mafia Wars, Treasure Isle, and Zynga Poker. CityVille, the company's most recent release and Facebook's most popular app ever with 101.1 million monthly active users, is noticeably missing from the list, but it's possible that the program will add support for the game soon. As players automatically earn zPoints (a cap will be in place on how many zPoints users can acquire each day in a single game and the entire Zynga network), they will increase their "zLevel". Each time gamers level up, they will receive zCoins. "As a company focused on innovation we're constantly testing new products and features," said Zynga in a statement posted by TechCrunch. The developer has not formally announced RewardVille, though the program's site was discovered by bloggers this morning. The company adds, "When experimenting with new products we take the feedback we receive and apply it to deliver the best possible user experience. We look forward to hearing how our users like RewardVille."
