A couple former developers from Electronic Arts Los Angeles have formed Supergiant Games, an independent studio planning to release a new title for digital download platforms in 2011. Amir Rao, formerly a game designer at EA LA who worked on the Command & Conquer series during his three years at the company, "runs" the studio and manages design/direction for its projects. Gavin Simon, who was an AI designer at the EA studio for two years, now works as Supergiant's gameplay engineer. Musician Darren Korb handles all the audio work, including sound effects and mixing, at the new developer. Co-founders Rao and Simon quit their jobs at EA LA last year to "move into a house together and make games". Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the small company hasn't yet revealed any details about their game under development, but it is demonstrating the title behind closed doors at the Game Developers Conference and intends to reveal more about the project in the coming weeks. While the main team is comprised of only three employees, Supergiant has a "small army of freelancers in orbit around the team". It is also currently seeking talented 2D artists.
