Square Enix To Publish CoD: Modern Warfare 2 In Japan

Thanks to Square Enix, Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will see a Japanese release. The two publishers have signed a deal giving the Japanese Final Fantasy house the publishing rights for its home country. A new Square Enix-branded teaser site displays the game's logo and promises a "Winter" release. According to an official announcement translated by Andriasang, the deal includes all major versions of the game, on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. The game is considered a direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, published in Japan by Activision's Japanese branch. The company no longer has a Japanese publishing arm, so also turned to Square Enix for the upcoming "Platinum Collection" release of CoD4 on Xbox 360 in Japan. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will release in the U.S. on November 10, and is anticipated to be one of the season's biggest blockbusters. Activision has boldly stated it's preparing for the "biggest entertainment launch of all time."
