#TurnBasedThursday :

Stockholm, Sweden & Worldwide | April 2nd, 2024

The second #TurnBasedThursdayFest goes live April 4th across Steam, Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, and Discord, with over 350 participating turn-based video games featured in genres ranging from RPGs, sims, grand strategy, deck builders, 4X, roguelikes, puzzlers, city builders, and more.

The first edition (“#TurnBasedFest” at the time) of the festival was held in December 2022 to great acclaim. This year more than 600 games applied for a spot in the new edition. 372 were selected to showcase a variety of genres, studio sizes, released and upcoming titles.

Gamers will find well-known hits like Darkest Dungeon, Battletech, and Gloomhaven; successful indies like Wildermyth, Colony Ship, and Caves of Qud; and a huge variety of hidden gems and promising upcoming games.

Brought to life by the group behind the long-running #TurnBasedThursday game showcases on Twitter, the return of #TurnBasedThursdayFest aims to highlight and celebrate the broad diversity of turn-based video games – all united by fun based on smart choices & clever planning instead of reflexes & reactions.

The event features a games showcase & Steam sale, a full 5-day schedule of Twitch streams & YouTube premieres, game announcements, and community fun on Discord & Twitter.

Gamers, represent!
There are many kinds of turn-based games — large-scale grand strategy and precise small-scale tactics; fast-paced pause-only-when-you-need-to and relaxing watch-and-savor; old school classics and clever new concepts. What unites them all is a player base that enjoys games where you can take your time when you want to, that loves the payoff of careful choices and a clever plan, that wants victories based on smarts, not speed.

Millions of gamers love these kinds of games, and #TurnBasedThursdayFest is bringing them together. All week the event has opportunities for you to share your stories, tactics and have some fun with your fellow gamers.

You can join the Turn-Based Games Discord now for a great community with gaming news, deals, and fun.

About the #TurnBasedThursdayFest organizers / #TurnBasedThursday team
#TurnBasedThursday started as a Twitter hashtag conceived by Thomas Weiss, Founder of Hugging Dragons, used for indie game developers to share turn-based video games they were working on.

As it grew in popularity it became a community-organized thread (used by many content creators and publishers to discover promising games) with a new host selected each week, to continuously provide fresh eyes and new featuring for all involved. It’s expanded to include the The Turn-Based Games Discord (created in partnership with TurnBasedLovers.com), a monthly free demo club, and the #TurnBasedThursdayFest & Steam sale.

Today the #TurnBasedThursday organizing team is comprised of developers from Lost Pilgrims Studio, Terra Randoma, Trese Brother Games, Curious Dynamics, and Unleash the Giraffe. This worldwide volunteer collaboration fosters a significant and ever-growing community for everyone who makes, plays, and loves turn-based video games.
