In a world first, 3 today reinforces its position as the leader in 3G gaming by bringing the hugely popular PC game, Civilization, to mobile. In an exclusive agreement with Com2uS, developer and publisher of Civilization, 3 customers will be able to bring the empire-building strategy game to life on their video mobiles from October.
With such an addictive blend of building, exploration, discovery and conquest, Civilization fans will no longer be restricted to their laptop or PC. 3 customers will now have constant and immediate access to the game, meaning all those wasted moments can now be packed full of thrilling Civilization adventures.
Civilization will be exclusive to 3 initially, and with over 3.2 million customers in the UK, the network provides a unique and innovative platform for video mobile gaming.
With more than 7 million sales worldwide since its launch, Civilization and its sequels are among some of the world's most popular PC games. A multi-dimensional and highly strategic game, Civilization enables players to match wits against some of history's greatest leaders as they strive to build the ultimate civilization. Perfectly suited for mobile, Civilization can be started and then continued on at any stage, meaning interruptions do not affect the game-flow.
3 has built a reputation for market-leading games over mobile with the UK's first real-time multiplayer games, 3D gaming and near-console quality gaming on mobile for the first time. The ELSPA games charts indicate more people play games on 3 than any other operator. By bringing Civ to mobile in a world first, 3 strengthens its games deck with yet another great mobile offering.
Oscar Clark, Games Product Manager at 3 commented: 'The launch of Civilization on the 3 network demonstrates the power of video mobile, to deliver a compelling gaming experience no matter how complex the game. We have a proven track record of delivering services that are immediate, fun and accessible, and this is no exception'.
Fraser Norman, Director of Com2uS EMEA commented: 'Civilization is a gamer's game, and 3 is the gamer's operator. 3's highly effective marketing and publisher support teams, coupled with their acute understanding and enthusiasm for mobile gaming, made 3 the only obvious choice to be the first to launch Civilization via mobile.'

Note to Editors
Civilization will cost £5 for 3 customers to download and own the game.
3 is the only UK operator to offer customers the choice of buying and renting games. With the RENT option customers pay 25p per play, or 50p for up to three days of play on a game, this offer which is unique to 3 is proving popular with customers who want to sample a game before buying it.
With the BUY option customers make a one off payment, of between £3 and £7.50 and then have continuous use of the game on their video mobile. The near console quality games that are initially available on certain models of handset cost £7.50.
