Gameplay Highlights

In Magicraft, players journey through a fantastical world invaded by Lovecraftian deities, where each run is a new adventure. Key gameplay features include:

  • Dynamic Spell-Crafting System: With over 100 spells, 70 relics, and 90 wands, players can freely combine elements to create distinct combat styles. The wand and spell placement system adds a layer of strategy, as different setups trigger varied spell effects.Players can experiment by pairing spells they enjoy to create entirely new outcomes; for instance, a "Falling Spell" rains active spells down from above, changing the trajectory of attacks, while a "Twining Spell" causes spells on the right to rotate around those on the left, forming spiraling patterns. With thousands of possible combinations, there’s always something new to discover.

other Chinese game media reviews and comments:

Magicraft impresses with its Lovecraftian art style, and the spell-crafting mechanics are incredibly intricate. With nearly a hundred spells and relics to combine, I’ve spent dozens of hours and still feel like I’ve only scratched the surface. There’s room to refine the level design and some enemy attack patterns, but overall, this game is definitely worth a play.

Craft your spells and blast your way through waves of enemies! Magicraft is a bullet-hell cocktail where the journey far outshines simply clearing the levels—you’ll almost never use the same strategy twice.

Magicraft is a roguelike shooter with exceptional freedom in playstyle. With so many combinations, each player can create a style uniquely their own. However, there’s room for more content and added difficulty to push it even further.

Although roguelike games have increasingly blended with other genres in recent years, Magicraft is unique in pairing roguelike mechanics with humor. The game leaves you feeling relaxed and entertained—words rarely used to describe a roguelike, yet Magicraft pulls it off, balancing dark visuals with humor and providing a refreshingly light-hearted experience.

Summary: A limitless “spell-weaving simulator”

Review: Starting Magicraft feels like stepping into a wild imagination club—filled with unimaginable creatures and spells. Its most distinct feature is that every spell is custom-crafted by the player, giving it almost a Minecraft-like vibe within the roguelike genre. If there’s a minor critique, it’s that spell randomness can feel too strong at times, and late-game battles occasionally overwhelm with flashy effects, making it easy to lose track of your character.

A game that brings players back to the pure joy of playing.
