9 November 2011, Singapore and Malaysia – Asiasoft Online ("Asiasoft") announces the launch of the second instalment of CHAOS for MapleSEA, the highly-anticipated major content update that introduces Player versus Player ("PvP") mode in MapleStory.
Following the major revamp in May 2011 with Big Bang, the CHAOS update continues to engage players by introducing the long awaited PvP element into MapleSEA after six years of service in Singapore and Malaysia.
Similarly to Big Bang, the CHAOS content update is also divided into three phases. The first phase was launched in October 2011 with the Return of the Heroes, where the Hero class skills were revamped. The second phase, entitled the Technological Age and Super Fight, will see new profession skills and PvP being introduced into MapleSEA, slowly changing the landscape and game play of this cute 2D side-scrolling Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG)
Super Fight is the most anticipated update of CHAOS as players can now engage in PvP battles for the first time in MapleSEA. There are two main PvP modes in this patch, Survival and Team Match. In Survival mode, players battle against one another in a free-for-all match lasting ten minutes each session. As for Team Match mode, players will be assigned randomly into two teams, Red or Blue, and will have to work together to defeat the opposing team, with the battle lasting ten minutes as well.
At the end of the battle, players will receive a score to determine their ranking as well as Battle EXP and Battle Points. The Battle Points can be used to purchase items from the Battle Square, the only area that PvP can take place. Battle Square is accessible via NPC Maximus which is located in all major towns.
Also, to ensure fair play during the battle, skills and abilities are automatically adjusted upon entering the PvP mode, and different maps will cater to different levels of gamers.
In addition to the PvP battle arena, gamers of level 170 and above who crave a challenge should form an expedition team and pit their strength against the new boss, Empress Cygnus. The expedition team can take up to a maximum of 18 members, and can only battle the Empress in Channel 13. As a side note, Empress Cygnus is the only boss that drops level 140 equipment!
The new PvP mode is a welcome change from the usual grinding and questing as gamers can have some competitive fun with their friends. In the last phase of the CHAOS patch, look out for the launch of Ice Knight, a fun and challenging PvP mode where one player is randomly selected as the Ice Knight, and will be challenged by the other players within the map. The objective of the gamers is to defeat the Ice Knight, while the Ice Knight fights to survive the onslaught and freeze all opponents in order to emerge as the ultimate survivor.
Those who have less of a taste for competitive gaming can try out the new profession skills in this Technological Age, another content release which introduces five new profession skills, namely Herbalism, Mining, Equipment Forging, Jewel Crafting and Alchemy. Each character can learn up to two complementary skills as long as they are level 30 and above. These skills allow them to mine ores, forge armour, create potions and make accessories for their characters!
In conjunction with this revolutionary CHAOS content update, MapleSEA will be holding exclusive events and activities to celebrate this occasion. One major event will be at the Asiasoft All Star Battle where MapleSEA will be holding its first-ever PvP tournament and a special launch celebration for CHAOS. Anyone interested in participating in the tournament should check out MapleSEA's website (http://www.MapleSEA.com) for more details. The event will held at Far East Plaza Atrium, on 19 and 20 November 2011, 11am to 8pm. There will also be many in-game events and activities, with attractive prizes up for grabs.
"We are extremely excited about the new CHAOS content update. It signifies a new era with the introduction of PvP mode, first launched in Korea MapleStory after seven years of service, and finally to MapleSEA after six years in Singapore and Malaysia. This mode brings an added flavour to the gameplay experience for our gamers," said Mr Sherman Tan, Chairman of Asiasoft Online. "This update enabled MapleSEA to hold its inaugural battle tournament at the Asiasoft All Star Battle and we look forward to celebrating this milestone with our gamers."
