The Behemoth :
San Diego, California – October 31, 2024
Independent game developer and publisher The Behemoth has released their newest title BEHEMOTH, a single-player, infinite “dodge n’ flap” arcade extravaganza! Created as a celebration of the indie studio’s twenty-first anniversary, BEHEMOTH serves as a love letter to the community that has supported The Behemoth since its inception in 2003.
Fulfilling a longtime fan request, BEHEMOTH allows players to become the studio’s beloved chicken mascot, with the objective of gathering baby chicks falling from the sky and securing them to safety in large nests. As the game progresses, a torrent of obstacles in the form of fruit, eggs, and miscellaneous dinnerware populate the screen, disrupting the player’s progress.
BEHEMOTH will feature over 200 unlockable cosmetics for players to customize their chicken, ranging from cute, to weird, to downright scary, just in time for Halloween! The game also hosts daily leaderboards for highest score and most checkpoints secured, encouraging community members to compete head-to-head any day of the week.
Formerly known as Game 6, BEHEMOTH is the first project to be completed in the studio’s previously announced roadmap, which includes the upcoming Castle Crashers Painter Boss Paradise DLC and a quality of life update for BattleBlock Theater. The Behemoth is excited to release BEHEMOTH as they continue working through planned updates for their entire catalog of games while looking ahead to Game 7, the newest addition to the studio’s roadmap.
“For many years, fans have wanted a game featuring our beloved chicken mascot,” said John Baez, co-founder of The Behemoth. “We’ve always brought arcade cabinets to tradeshows and felt inspired to create a new arcade game this year to celebrate our 21st anniversary and fulfill that popular request. We are so excited to get BEHEMOTH in the community’s hands online and in-person!”
BEHEMOTH is now available for purchase on Steam, featuring a 10% off launch discount until Thursday, November 7th!
