The 42nd Golden Joystick Awards is pleased to announce that actor Ben Starr will be hosting this year’s awards ceremony live from the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.

Ben is best known for playing Clive Rosfield, the protagonist in Final Fantasy XVI, as well as Verso in Expedition 33 and Arthur in Warframe: 1999. He will be joined by special guests, previous winners, this year’s nominees and VIPs from across the gaming world to celebrate the best games, studios, communities and hardware of 2024.

Ben Starr, actor and show host, said: “I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be your guide to this year’s Golden Joystick Awards. We’ll be celebrating the greatest games of the past 12 months — but more importantly, the talented teams of people who made them possible. The Golden Joystick Awards is the world's longest-running public-voted games awards show, attracting millions of votes every year from around the world. Fans can vote now at goldenjoysticks.com in nineteen categories including Console Game of the YearPC Game of the YearBest Multiplayer GameBest Performer and more. Voting closes on Friday, November 1 at 4pm PDT / 7pm EDT / 11pm GMT.

The coveted Ultimate Game of the Year, will open for voting on Monday, November 4.

Highlights:

  • Special guests and previous winners from across the gaming world will present over 20 Golden Joystick Awards to this year’s winners. With two weeks left to vote, over 8.4 million votes have already been cast, an increase of 79% year-on-year.

  • Guest presenters include actors Alex McKenna (Sadie Adler, Red Dead Redemption 2), Alix Wilton Regan (Joanna Dark, Perfect Dark), Neil Newbon (Astarion, Baldur’s Gate 3) and Patricia Summersett (Princess Zelda, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Ash in Rainbow Six Siege); Monika Janowska from CD PROJEKT RED and actor, game developer and producer Abubakar Salim. Plus many more special guests to be confirmed.

  • Over 120 games, studios and hardware are represented in 19 categories currently being voted on by the global gaming public.

  • Astro Bot and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth lead the shortlist with five nominations each, followed by Helldivers 2 with four nominations and roguelike deck builder, Balatro with three nominations. The competition heats up as we prepare to unveil our Ultimate Game of the Year shortlist on November 4.

All the winners will be revealed in a celebration of games in London and live-streamed globally on all major streaming platforms on Thursday, November 21, 2024. Viewers can watch the ceremony live via YouTube, Twitch, Steam, Facebook and X as well as Future Games Show, GamesRadar, PC Gamer and TechRadar Gaming. A limited number of tables to attend the in-person event are available via Golden Joystick Awards 2024.
