London, UK - 27th January 2006 -- Climax is delighted to announce the appointment of Julian Rex as Technical Director of its Action studio. Julian joins the company from Sony where he worked as Lead Programmer on Ghosthunter (PS2), the BAFTA award-winning Medievil2 (PS1) and most recently leading an unannounced next-gen title. Prior to working at Sony, Julian also enjoyed a successful career at Millennium Interactive where he worked on notable hits such as Defcon 5 (PS1 & PC) and Frogger (PS1).

As Technical Director, Julian takes responsibility for ensuring that the Action studio is at the frontline of technical innovation on all the new formats, including the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. In particular, he will be overseeing the technical development of Climax's exciting next generation projects including an original action game. Bringing the full weight of his many years' of experience to bear, he will be pushing the development teams to deliver revolutionary games that fully utilise the company's advanced, proprietary tools and technology.

"I'm thrilled to have joined Climax and, on a personal level, am particularly excited to be reunited with Simon Gardner again," said Julian. "Simon showed a lot of faith in me when he made me Lead Programmer on Medievil2 and I'm delighted to be working for him again. On a professional level, I'm just really pleased to be working for a company that recognises the importance of technical innovation and is prepared to invest the requisite time, effort and resources to create genre-defining games."

"I worked closely with Julian at Sony Cambridge and am really pleased to have him onboard" said Simon Gardner, President of Climax's Action studio. "As we move towards the launch of the next generation consoles and the enormous technical leap forward they represent, his experience and expertise will be invaluable. He will be an important cog in the development wheel and I know he's going to make an excellent Technical Director. All the games we have in development are in very capable and committed hands and his input will help us fully realise their potential."

Julian takes over the role following Chris Keegan's transfer to the Handheld studio where he will continue to push forward the company's projects.
