Contra: Operation Galuga Composers Announced

SAN DIEGO - February 21, 2024 - Scarlet Moon, in partnership with Konami Digital Entertainment (KONAMI) and WayForward, is thrilled to announce Scarlet Moon's Yuko Komiyama and Norihiko Hibino as lead composers on Contra: Operation Galuga. The latest installment of the iconic run-'n'-gun action game, co-developed by KONAMI and WayForward, launches on March 12. Yuko Komiyama has meticulously crafted the main score with a high-intensity orchestral sound, utilizing several classic Contra melodies that will surprise and delight fans.


Norihiko Hibino is responsible for all of the explosive boss battle music. Both are excited to work with KONAMI on this incredible reimagining of the first game in the series alongside developer WayForward, which is renowned for the care and attention it's given to the Contra franchise in the past. Fans can get a taste of what to expect from the full soundtrack in the music preview trailer above. Even more, KONAMI is currently preparing the soundtrack to release on digital storefronts and streaming platforms on March 5, and a demo of Contra: Operation Galuga is available now.

“While my focus has largely been on therapeutic music over the past several years, it was wonderful to revisit the intense action music that defined my early career," adds Norihiko Hibino. "I was surprised by how quickly this production style came back to me and I was able to prepare all of my tracks in a burst of inspiration over a couple weeks. I hope Contra fans enjoy the high-energy boss battles found in Contra: Operation Galuga!”
 

Contra: Operation Galuga is a thorough reimagining of the classic run 'n' gun NES/arcade game from the 1980s, featuring timeless gameplay, iconic weapons, modern graphics and sound, new stages, new enemies and bosses, new play mechanics, and intense co-op combat for up to two players in Story Mode or four players in Arcade Mode! Take control of elite Contra commandos Bill Rizer and Lance Bean as they battle the Red Falcon terrorist group, which has turned the once-peaceful Galuga Islands into an all-out warzone where the fate of mankind hangs in the balance. Contra: Operation Galuga will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam.
