New update features city-building, challenges, and an experimental endless mode

October 29, 2024 - Los Angeles, CA - Astra Logical is happy to share that Dawnfolk has been nominated for IndieCade 2024!
To celebrate this honor and Dawnfolk’s inclusion in this week’s frighteningly fun Steam Scream Fest, the solo developer, Darenn Keller, has updated the game’s demo. The latest update includes a variety of new levels and gameplay enhancements inspired by player feedback from recent open playtests.
New fun stuff includes:
The first story level: players learn how to build a city and defend against darkness with three difficulty modes.
The first challenge level: this level is procedurally generated with a unique gameplay twist. Players will have to try it to find out - Astra declines to spoil it here.
The first puzzle level: there’s a new daily puzzle that changes every day!
An experimental endless mode: with a vast procedural map, players’ only goal is to survive and thrive.
“IndieCade Europe was the first game development event I attended as a student,” said Darenn Keller, the one lovely French man powering the entirety of Dawnfolk’s development. “Meeting incredible developers there motivated me to pursue game development as my career. I'm deeply honored that my game has been nominated for IndieCade 2024.”
Additionally, Astra is looking forward to challenging demo players with a giveaway. To participate, players must download the demo then actually pay attention. Answering all three questions in the giveaway increases a participant’s chance of winning a $20 Steam gift card.
If the winner is again located in South Africa, Astra humbly apologizes in advance. Darenn hosted a giveaway then Astra completely botched getting a reward in lieu of a Steam gift card because South Africa makes things difficult. Astra is livin’ and learnin’.
Dawnfolk will be available on PC via Steam in 2025. A press kit with some great screenshots highlighting Lueur’s happy ‘lil face is available at astralogical.org/game-dawnfolk.
