Tokyo, Japan - October 27, 2005 - Today, Koei Co. Ltd. received two "Excellence Awards" at the 9th annual Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) Game Awards show. Two Koei titles received this award: the worldwide hit Dynasty Warriors 5 and Haruka 3, a Japan-only adventure game targeted at female players.
This year's Excellence Awards were given to titles released in Japan from April 2004 to March 2005, and were determined by a CESA committee in conjunction with votes from the Japanese gaming public. Koei is no stranger to this honor, having garnered Excellence Awards for Dynasty Warriors 3, Dynasty Warriors 4, and Samurai Warriors as well.
"The success of the Dynasty Warriors series is all thanks to the fans who have supported us, and I thank you," said Takashi Morinaka, director of Dynasty Warriors 5. DW5 has continued the series' tradition of critical acclaim and strong sales, and was one of the top-selling PlayStation 2 games of the year.
Haruka 3 is the first female-oriented game to win the Excellence Award. It is an anime-style game that creates a fantasy world of adventure and romance, and has gained a huge following among female gamers in Japan.
