Bandai Namco :

Bandai Namco UK is proud to announce a collaboration with PlayStation Tournaments to host the first official TEKKEN 8 tournament run by the two organisations together, with cash prizes, exclusively on PS5. In celebration of TEKKEN’s 30th anniversary, PlayStation is providing the entire £6,000 prize pool, marking a special milestone for the series since its debut in Japan in 1994.

 
Entrants must be 16+, based in the UK, own a copy of TEKKEN 8 and have a PS Online subscription to participate. A prize pool of £6,000 is available to the highest performers, with the money to be distributed as follows:
 

  • 1st Place – £1,500

  • 2nd Place – £900

  • 3rd Place – £700

  • 4th Place – £700

  • 5th Place – £350

  • 6th Place – £350

  • 7th Place – £350

  • 8th Place – £350

  • 9th Place – £100

  • 10th Place – £100

  • 11th Place – £100

  • 12th Place – £100

  • 13th Place – £100

  • 14th Place – £100

  • 15th Place – £100

  • 16th Place – £100

 
All entrants will also receive an exclusive TEKKEN 30th Anniversary PlayStation avatar as a reward for signing up.
 
Open qualifiers will run from 4th - 24th November 2024 between 18:30-21:30 BST. There will be one round one the hour, every hour, i.e. four each day. The closed finals will on 30th November 2024. Players will fight to reach the top of the leaderboard with the following format rules:

  • Open Qualifiers will be Single Elimination – best of one match

  • Closed Finals will be Single Elimination – best of three matches

 
Players can sign up via the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the game hub for TEKKEN 8 and scroll down to the upcoming tournaments carousel. You can also find tournament cards in the control centre, or directly in-game.

  2. Select the ‘TEKKEN 8 30th Anniversary Tournament’

  3. Select the register button on the tournament card

  4. Compete. When it is time for your first match you’ll receive a notification. Hit Join Match and be ready to compete.

  5. Results. Winning your bracket will get you a slot in the finals on the 30th November, where you can compete for the prize money!

 
Alternatively, players can use the PlayStation Tournaments button in the TEKKEN 8 main menu to also access these tournament times.
 
PlayStation Tournaments brings competitive gaming to PS5 in a series of organised contests that you can join direct from your console. It's an invitation to players of all skill levels to compete online, and a chance to win digital and real-world prizes from regularly organised events.
