Kuju's mobile publishing division to be acquired by the Finesse Publishing Group.

5th December 2006. The Finesse Publishing Group today announces that it has agreed to acquire Kuju Wireless Publishing Ltd, the specialist mobile game publishing division of Kuju plc. Kuju plc retains its mobile phone game development group which operates as one of Kuju Entertainment's autonomous studios. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Kevin Holloway, previously Managing Director of Kuju Wireless Publishing, joins Finesse as its new CEO. Holloway commented "Finesse is delighted to build upon the strong foundations laid by Kuju Wireless Publishing and looks forward to growing the company in the rapidly evolving mobile content industry. As a first step in its integration into the group, Kuju Wireless will be re-branded as Finesse Mobile."
For Kuju plc; Jonathan Newth, Managing Director, said "Kuju Entertainment remains committed to Mobile Phone game development through the retention of our Mobile development studio. With over 60 games developed on a range of technologies (including 2D & 3D J2ME, Symbian, SMS and Interactive TV) we have one of the strongest independent mobile development studios in the UK. As mobile platforms continue to grow in complexity and capability, our ability to leverage the technical knowledge of our sister PC and console divisions will be a key competitive advantage."
Jonathan Newth added "Kuju intends to focus on its core skills in development, particularly as we enter the era of the next generation of consoles. We believe that the agreement with Finesse provides the clear focus and optimum return to Kuju for the IP and business that has been created so far."
Kuju Wireless Publishing Ltd (KWP) was set up by Kuju to clearly differentiate Kuju's mobile phone game publishing activities from Kuju's development group. KWP has worked with external developers and has succeeded in bringing several high profile IPs to the mobile gaming market including Sensible Soccer, Cannon Fodder, Lotus Challenge Slot Cars, Lotus Challenge City Racing, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure & Judge Dredd. KWP has already achieved a huge amount with titles selling in more than 75 countries.
