LOS ANGELES, CA - November 16, 2005 - Foundation 9 Entertainment, Inc., the largest independent game developer in North America, announced today that it will have completed development on more than 30 games by the end of calendar year 2005, with many of these games already available in stores. Through its recent merger and acquisitions, the newly formed Foundation 9 has been able to uniquely position itself to leverage videogame properties for movies, comic books, action figures, and other entertainment merchandise opportunities.
With a catalog of more than 300 game titles developed between the combined studios of Backbone, The Collective, Pipeworks, ImaginEngine and Digital Eclipse, Foundation 9 has experience working with some of the most revered properties in entertainment, including Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Pac-Man. As the company continues to develop premium licensed properties and creates strategic partnerships, Foundation 9 is looking to maximize the full value of their intellectual properties across all entertainment genres. Their recent hit title, Death, Jr., is the first of many original IP's that will be adapted to capitalize on the lucrative merchandising potential.
"Our studios are comprised of highly-talented, creative development teams that strive to create high-quality interactive entertainment, from traditional videogames, to handheld, to plug-and-play devices that reintroduce classic games to new generations," said Gary Priest, co-chairman of Foundation 9 Entertainment. "As evidenced by the broad mix of titles developed by our company this year, we are prepared to diversify and explore different avenues of business while adapting to the rapidly growing industry."
In August, Foundation 9 officially announced their commitment to developing next-gen projects through their studios The Collective, Backbone Emeryville, Pipeworks and Backbone Vancouver. A videogame based on the Dirty Harry franchise is already under development by The Collective in Newport Beach.
