Key

  • Time for an adventure! - The Edge of Allegoria offers a classic role-playing world full of monsters and magic and, as a 2D single-player game, provides a familiar gaming experience with modern ideas and touches.

  • From the frying pan into the fire - Following his midlife crisis, the protagonist decides to go on a journey through the land of Allegoria - and promptly must stand his ground against countless murderous monsters. In the process, players explore the land, discover numerous perils and learn more about the history and secrets of the magical world of Allegoria.

  • Impressive huge game world - The Edge of Allegoria is packed with content: 145 monster types, 41 boss fights, 31 dungeons and 6 divine beings await in their own overworld domain. Players can look forward to many hours of gameplay and constant variety on the screen.

  • High-Level-Upgrades – Allegoria is filled to the brim with monster battles, therefore players need to be able to defend themselves well. The game features 96 unique weapons, each offering unique combat skills. Players can equip their weapons over the course of several battles and with enough weapon experience, the skill and stats of the weapon are permanently retained by the player. The mission is clear: find all the weapons, learn all the skills and become overpowered!

  • GameBoy Retro Look - A whole generation of video game fans are familiar with the legendary handheld from the 80s. Joe Picknell himself grew up with the aesthetic and knew straight away that he wanted this look for his debut work: an unusual nostalgic pixel artwork.

The Edge of Allegoria is the debut project of Canadian Joe Picknell, on which he has been working with much love and passion since 2021. Picknell is an avid RPG fan, long-time pixel artist, video game composer and game developer who has combined his specialisms with The Edge of Allegoria to create a unique adventure with influences from the golden age of handheld gaming. Thanks to its morbid humor and strong self-irony, the 2D RPG really does make everyone crack up. The unique, GameBoy-inspired visuals make the turn-based combat a real nostalgia trip with a modern twist.
