Greatest50games.com today announces the launch of an annual search to find the fifty greatest games of all time, an online poll designed to gather the opinions of the most important players in the videogames industry today; the gamer. Each year the service will run for two months from November to January in an effort to gauge the great from the good.
Supported by some of the industry's leading players with coverage spanning online, print and the increasingly popular podcasting phenomenon, the next two months will see the crowning of a new champion; a people's champion.
With the success of events such as The Golden Joystick awards stepping into the spotlight, greatest50games.com presents a more consumer friendly approach, allowing a user to vote for his or her greatest game online. Voting is open now at www.greatest50games.com and it really couldn't be simpler. Pick your game from the assembled list of past votes, or add your own favourite. Then, we'll keep you informed on exactly how your game is doing each week.
Designed by a leader in the videogame website field, meavic.co.uk, in conjunction with vagusnet.com, we didn't think that was enough. We're also offering over £3,000 worth of prizes for you to win in our weekly prize draws which run throughout which include games consoles, a selection of the greatest games in recent years from the worlds leading publishers and many more surprises.
"Bringing a new kind of award to the gaming audience is something we feel very strongly about" said Duncan Simpson, editor of vagusnet.com. "With our continued partner support from market leading publishers, we're able to offer the biggest prizes online this Christmas, as well as provide vital feedback for developers and publishers alike, so why not join us in deciding the greatest fifty games of all time."
The poll is open for a full two months from today (1st November) until 31st December 2005 when a final count will be taken and the inaugural G50 announced. Yet we know gaming moves very fast these days with new advances and benchmarks being made all the time. Therefore, each year we'll repeat the poll to best reflect the changes in gaming that the next generation will undoubtedly bring, and beyond.
So go get your vote registered at www.greatest50games.com and make your choice known to have the chance to win some very cool prizes.
