The latest masterpiece from Westwood Studios and Housemarque veteran revives the classic cave flyer genre

Las Vegas, Nevada February 17, 2022. Utopos Games announces the immediate availability of retro-style twin-stick shooter Guntech 2 on Steam for Windows, Mac and Linux.
Guntech 2 is a return of the good old “cave flyer” shoot ’em ups genre. It's a retro-style game where state-of-the-art graphics and visual effects are combined with classic gameplay. It’s influenced by such classics as Thrust, Oids, Geometry Wars, and Asteroids. It offers single-player and couch co-op mode for up to 4 players!

Cave flyers were popular in the 80s and 90s, but this classic genre has been mostly forgotten in the recent past. Guntech 2 is a triumphant return of the genre. It launched on Xbox last month, and it has quickly become popular among gamers, along with receiving excellent reviews.
Lead developer Jani Penttinen has 30 years of professional game development under his belt. He was one of the first employees at Finnish game development powerhouses Remedy and Housemarque, and you can see the influence of those early days in the game design of Guntech 2. He later worked at EA and Westwood Studios on some of the biggest game franchises of the early 2000s. These days Jani has returned to his roots, working on indie games at his Las Vegas-based game studio Utopos Games.
Jani explains: "I started my career in the early 90s by making a cave-flyer called Utopos for Atari ST. I know more about the genre than almost anyone in the world, so I wanted to refresh it to the modern gaming systems. I'm glad to see Guntech 2 seems to attract today's young gamers as well as those who grew up in the 80s and 90s."
Guntech 2 runs in 4k resolution at 60fps on modern gaming PCs. It features 42 Steam Achievements and supports Steam Leaderboards for added replay value. Guntech 2 is fully localized in 7 languages: English, Finnish, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
