Finland's largest console gaming magazine Pelaaja and its publisher, H-Town continue their rapid expansion. The company's most recent recruiting move sees two respected Finnish gaming journalists, Kalle Kaivola and Lassi Kurkijärvi enter its growing arsenal of professional content creators.
"These recruitment decisions are an important part of our long-term development plans. We have now managed to find those media professionals we need to create the best gaming magazines for our readers", says CEO Petteri Moisio.
Kalle Kaivola has strong experience in both computer and console gaming journalism. He produced and supervised the gaming coverage of Finland's largest computer enthusiast magazine, Mikrobitti and then worked as the editor-in-chief of Tilt multiformat gaming magazine. At H-Town, Kaivola started as the launch editor of Pelaaja's October redesign issue and will continue as the editor-in-chief of a completely new magazine that launches in November.
Lassi Kurkijärvi has a strong understanding of creating journalistic content for H-Town's main target audience, the hard to reach under 35s who read gaming and popular culture magazines. He is credited for being part of a two-man team that originally created and produces the weekly entertainment supplement Valo for Finland's second largest national daily newspaper, Aamulehti. This year he oversaw the creation of Valo's website. Previously Kurkijärvi, who is also one of H-Town's founders, worked as a culture journalist and was responsible for Aamulehti's gaming coverage. He has also worked as a freelance writer for respected Finnish magazines. Kurkijärvi will start as H-Town's new creative director in the beginning of October 2005.
