Bristol UK – February 14th 2022. Danish developer Triheart Studio today announced Golfie, a fresh take on golf, fusing together several different genres to create a brilliant unique and supremely playable golf game, and is heading to Early Access this Spring – but playable from now until this Friday (28 February) via a public Steam playtest.
See Golfie in all its golfing glory in the Introducing GOLFIE trailer here.
From a starting deck of seven cards, players play through holes of golf, using coins, gems, vending machines and bonuses to modify their deck. Cards can be drawn and applied to the standard mini golf shot, allowing players to create an almost infinite number of shot combinations and unexpected fusions, creating a genuinely unique spin on the genre.
Golfie is the first release from Danish developer Triheart Studio – a husband and wife team formed from a shared love of playful, playable interactive entertainment. Golfie will launch into Early Access with fully playable single and multiplayer campaigns, with the game refined throughout development through to full release.
In single player mode, players must attempt a ‘run’ of 18 procedurally-generated golf holes spread across three distinct biomes. A global leader board will compare scores against other players, with those that successfully complete 18 holes then able to unlock a special ‘endless mode’ for truly infinite play. Daily runs will pit all players against the same procedurally-generated course, whilst specific seeds can be shared online to compare like-for-like play.
Online and local multiplayer modes offer various tweaks to the 18-hole game, allowing players to tweak almost every rule in order to create their perfect round.
Card powers can vary from simply increasing the distance or elevation of a standard shot, through to out of this world effects which can be combined to dazzling effect, and include effects like:
Emergency Parachute – activate to slow the ball’s travels mid-air
Portal – enter one half of the portal and emerge from another; where you put both pieces is up to you
Impact Grenade – the ball explodes as soon as it hits an object, allowing you to clear previously blocked paths
Inflate – swell to an enormous size and float majestically across the environment
Jetpack – when activated provides a continuous burst of upwards motion
Jump – activate mid-air to reach higher levels, or bounce off water hazards
Magnetic Field – pull the ball towards the centre; can be placed before a shot is taken or positioned down the course
Repulsive Field – repel the ball away from its centre
Shrink – the ball is able to pass through smaller gaps in the course
Sticky Paste – enables the ball to attach itself to the next thing it touches
“Whilst it may seem an unusual clash of genres, deckbuilding and mini golf actually perfectly complement each other,” says Sandra Lynggaard Fagerli, co-founder, Triheart Studios. “When we first toyed with a prototype, it was immediately apparent that we had something very special and very playable on our hands – and building upon that core idea every day has been a genuine joy.”
“We’re thrilled to be finally able to share our plans for Early Access and beyond,” adds Jacob Lynggaard Olsen, co-founder, Triheart Studios. “We’ve already had some fantastic feedback from our small round of testing, and now can’t wait to be opening it up to the wider community. By joining the playtest and sharing thoughts and comments you’ll be helping shape Golfie throughout its development. We’re looking forward to seeing many more of you on the fairway.
Golfie is due for release into Early Access in Spring 2022 and will be published by Yogscast Games.

Players are encouraged to Wishlist the game on Steam and join the growing Golfie community on Discord where they will be able to help shape the development of the game.
