15 February, 2022 - VAIL VR, is excited to announce the commencement of its Community Alpha weekends starting on February 19, 2022. VAIL VR is a multiplayer VR shooter that takes full advantage of the capabilities of virtual reality technology, providing an immersive and challenging experience that is unmatched in VR, ahead of its summer Beta launch.

These weekend playtests will give players the opportunity to join others in the game and immerse themselves in the Virtual Reality world AEXLAB is building. To make VAIL VR the best multiplayer experience, the gaming studio is opening up these sessions as an opportunity to get feedback from their community members and showcase the technologies they have been building. AEXLAB has taken the approach of developing VAIL VR from the ground up with the communities’ input every step of the way. The focus of the team has been centred around a combination of ground-breaking physics, mechanics, and design for a complete user experience.

In VAIL VR, two teams of five players compete in head-to-head modes including Team Deathmatch and Artifact. Team Deathmatch is the traditional combat mode where the team with the most eliminations wins the game. Artifact is VAIL’s signature game mode, which is akin to the fan favorite search and destroy model. In this mode, Attackers spawn with a scanner which can be used to extract the hidden data within a designated location, known as the Artifact sites. Whereas the Defenders must secure the Artifacts by protecting them with their lives.

From a technological perspective, VAIL VR features an advanced Inverse Kinematics system that leverages the standard 3 points of contact offered by traditional hardware. The studio has engineered the system to approximate player’s full body positioning and movement, without the need for additional tracking hardware. As a first-person shooter, the proper IK system creates a comfortable and telepresent experience.

“The playtests in the near future and leading up to summer will continuously be more and more focused on the user experience, getting into a game, and out of a game. It’s extremely important to have an uncluttered player experience. Testing is just as important as development, sometimes even more important because you are working on what the players need.” Albert Ovadia, Founder and CTO at AEXLAB.

With Alpha testing sign ups available on VAIL VR’s Steam page, potential players can join in on the fun for free. While the opening pool of players will be small in comparison to this summer’s Beta events, the process is designed to allow the development team to gain valuable feedback while testing weapon balance and client stability–fundamentally building VAIL VR to be a monumental virtual reality experience.

Please join the VAIL VR Discord for more information on the game and our weekly play sessions. Introduce yourself and meet like-minded, passionate gamers. Your next best friend is only one reality away.
