"MOMIBOSU" Press Release

The release date for the precision 2D platformer "MOMIBOSU," which makes you want to play again no matter how many times you get knocked down, has been announced.

Independent developer Peng has announced that the precision 2D platformer "MOMIBOSU," featuring a boy and girl from an underground village who face dangerous dungeons and terrifying enemies while striving for a new land, will be released on the Steam platform on January 16, 2025.
The price is set at $12.99 (USD), and it will be compatible with Windows.

"MOMIBOSU" is a challenging precision 2D platformer filled with a variety of engaging mechanics.

- A gameplay experience that makes you want to challenge yourself again and again
With quick retries, the game encourages you to keep trying just one more time.
There’s minimal stress from game overs.

- Unique mechanics for each stage
As you progress through the stages, new mechanics are introduced one after another. For example, in the first stage, there’s an interesting mechanism that activates by colliding enemies with each other.

- Dungeon exploration
While being a precision 2D platformer, the game features a Metroidvania-style expansive map, allowing for exploration and the enjoyment of collecting upgrade items.

- Battles against terrifying boss characters
The game features numerous boss characters. In the humanoid boss battles, a system similar to combo attacks in fighting games is implemented, allowing for exhilarating combat experiences.

- Boss characters include not only humans but also monsters
Gigantic biological weapons appear as boss characters. Each boss has distinct characteristics, making finding strategies to defeat them one of the enjoyable aspects of the game.

- Highly flexible action
You can dash freely in eight directions—up, down, left, right, and diagonally—and utilize the momentum from attacks for quick movement, allowing you to navigate the game world with ease.

- A story like a road movie
As the protagonists, a boy and girl, journey toward a new land, they experience various encounters and farewells with different characters, much like a road movie. From "good encounters" to "the worst encounters that are worth dying for," a range of developments awaits. Be sure to see how the story unfolds for yourself!

-  [Special Feature] Art Style Selection
In conversation scenes, you can choose the artwork for the characters between "line art" and "pixel art." Each style is created by different artists.

Originally, only "pixel art" was available, but the addition of "line art" was made later to enhance the visuals, reflecting the indie spirit behind the game. You can change the art style settings at any time.

- Aiming for "a game anyone can play" with speed adjustment mode
Although the game is known for its high difficulty, there is an option to slow down the game speed, significantly reducing the difficulty. This feature is designed to allow more people to enjoy the game.

- We look forward to the challenges from RTA runners!
With a high level of technical skill required, this game is well-suited for speedrunning.
