Southampton, 5th August 2005 - For Immediate Release
Multiplay announced today the flagship tournament for their coming LAN Party, i25. The Battlefield 2 Tournament will see a top prize of £1000 and invites for the winning team back to i26 to defend their title as UK LAN Champions.
As well as the £1000 top prize, subsequent prizes of £500 and £250 are up for grabs for second and third place respectively.
The tournament is to be held at Multiplay's i25 LAN Party, which can accommodate 1000 gamers for over 80 hours of high-octane gaming, due to take place over the August Bank Holiday Weekend (26th - 29th August 2005) at Newbury Racecourse, Berkshire, UK, close to the M4/A34.
The total prize fund provided for the Tournament by Multiplay is in excess of £2,700 and follows in the footsteps of the many previous large LAN tournaments they have been running successfully over the last seven years.
As well as the Battlefield 2 Tournament, there will also be additional competitions for Counter-Strike 1.6 and Source, Call of Duty and the Unreal Tournament Series, making a total prize fund of £6000 up for grabs.
'Fun' competitions will also be taking place over the weekend as well as a selection of light hearted social activities in the dedicated social area, where teams can go and relax by the bar. These activities include "DDR" and the notorious Pub Quiz.
i25 is also playing host to ModFest 2005, a PC modding exhibition and tournament. Following on from the success of ModFest 2004, CustomPC magazine (http://www.custompc.co.uk) have chosen to run this year's event at the i25 LAN party. Attendees can enter their modded PCs into the tournament for a chance to win a grand prize of £1,300 of PC hardware. Second and third place will walk away with £150 and £75 worth of prizes respectively.
