Niila blows the house down and reveals Tagtime, a multiplayer asymmetric horror with a (fairy) tale to tell

Copenhagen, Denmark - October 24, 2024 - Danish indie studio Niila Games is sprinkling some pixie dust on Steam today as it announces its newest title, Tagtime. With a demo available to play during Steam’s Scream Next Fest from October 28th through November 4th, there is magic and mayhem in store ahead of its 2025 launch. 

As if lifted from the pages straight out of a storybook comes an asymmetrical horror which pits frightening fairy tale foes against a roster of rambunctious runts in a terrifying game of tag. There’s no child's-play here, where you and five other unlucky souls must band together to avoid the clutches of two monstrous chefs with a hankering for a stew made of you. Your only hope of survival? Outsmart your pursuers, stay hidden, and, for goodness sake, don't get caught! 

Using special hero abilities and fortifications in order to survive, the runts must outsmart their enemies in a world straight out of a storybook to avoid getting cooked in the giant cauldron. Only by working together will the team of runts be able to save their bacon… literally! Build barricades, harvest resources, and be ready to smash open the cauldron that’s set to boil you and your allies alive. There’s no Prince Charming coming to save you in Tagtime… only your teammates.

Playing as one of the fairytale foes is no easy feat either. Take on the role of a suspiciously furry Grandma or a wildly wicked witch to capture the annoying magical mob of runts by using mischievous power-ups. Utilise a magic moonshine spray and leave no stick, brick, or hay house in your way when capturing your prey.

Tagtime invites the toiled and troubled into quick online matches. Play Tagtime with friends or strangers, and jump straight into the action to boil some delicious fairy tale creatures or outsmart the baddies!
