Fast and easy way to begin your VTuber career
November 5, 2024 – ONEUNIVERSE announced on November 5th the release of its self-developed virtual YouTuber (VTuber) character creation tool, “Meta Soulmate (MSM)” on Steam on the 30th.
Meta Soulmate is a creative tool that helps users easily create a variety of VTuber characters. Along with the release, a teaser video and images were also revealed. The teaser video showcases characters created by various users using Meta Soulmate, reflecting their own unique styles. The character creation process utilizes Unreal Engine 5’s cutting-edge technology, featuring subculture illustration style shaders.
When Meta Soulmate was first revealed through Steam Next Fest in February, over 60,000 users added it to their wishlists. In June, the demo version was released, adding various customization options, an intuitive face-tracking interface, and a Meta Screen (chroma key) feature that can be integrated with broadcasting systems like OBS.
ONEUNIVERSE stated that with the early access release, anyone can create their own VTuber characters, try on outfits, and use the broadcasting support system for free (free-to-play). Additionally, by subscribing to a membership, users can access extra features such as hairstyles, outfits, and accessories.
Jin Jae-hyuk, the lead producer of Meta Soulmate at ONEUNIVERSE, stated, "The demand for virtual characters is increasing across various sectors, including personal broadcasting, entertainment companies, public institutions, and large corporations. As the VTuber market is rapidly growing, we expect to benefit from our technological competitiveness." He added, "We will continue to focus on user convenience and strive to deliver high-quality services."
Meanwhile, according to market research firm Global Information, the virtual artist market is projected to grow to $17.4 billion (approximately 24 trillion KRW) by 2028.
