Ottawa, Canada – November 6, 2024 – Northern Forge Studios, creators of the popular location-based RPG, Orna, is thrilled to announce that the recent environmental in-game activation for this year’s Green Game Jam has earned the attention of the judges, and has been shortlisted for three upcoming awards at the Playing for the Planet Awards 2024. The awards are intended to celebrate and showcase the great work studios have done over the course of the 5th edition of the Green Game Jam, and Orna has been chosen as a Top 5 Finalist in the following award categories:
Newcomer Award – Honoring the best activation from a game new to the Green Game Jam.
Trailblazer Award – Celebrating an activation that breaks from tradition, delivering a memorable and unexpected experience.
Media's Choice Award – Recognizing the activation that excels in engaging players through storytelling and impactful environmental themes.

Winners of the awards will be announced on Monday, November 18 at the Playing for the Planet Awards event in Helsinki.
As part of the Terra’s Legacy event, Orna introduced an in-game activation focused on three key environmental themes: food, waste, and restoration, encouraging players to explore and learn about these environmental issues, but also to take action in real life.
Orna’s unique GPS gameplay empowered players to engage with their surroundings by identifying real-world locations affected by pollution or other environmental issues. Once identified, players could submit these sites to the game, triggering a "pollution-themed" raid boss to spawn in the area.
This interactive element enabled players from around the world to team up and take down these in-game raid bosses, highlighting global collaboration against real-world environmental challenges. Additionally, players were encouraged to submit stories of the polluted sites both in-game and on the official Orna Discord channel, fostering a community dedicated to environmental awareness and storytelling.
