For Immediate Release:
London, UK, November 10th. The first round of PAC-MANTM Tournament, Europe's first cross-carrier, mobile games competition drew to a close on October 31st, with regional champions found in the UK, France, Germany, Greece, and the Netherlands
The Grand Final of the competition will be held in London on November 18th, with the champions from each country competing live and head-to-head on real PAC-MAN arcade machines in front of the media, a hand-picked audience of mobile industry professionals and die-hard gamers.
Organised by Namco Europe's Web & Mobile Content division, the PAC-MAN Tournament was available on i-mode networks throughout Europe allowing players to join the competition and submit their highest PAC-MAN scores in a bid to become the champion in their own country.
The Tournament took place throughout September and October, with networks in each country giving players 4-6 weeks to enter. In October, O2 UK joined the competition, giving mobile gamers in the UK the chance to participate through its new i-mode network.
The five finalists will now travel to London for the Grand Final. The player with the highest arcade score at the end of the competition will walk away with a limited edition 25th Anniversary PAC-MAN arcade machine and the title of PAC-MAN Tournament Champion 2005.
Pramesh Chauhan, the Head of Business Development for Namco Europe's Web & Mobile Content division, says, "We're proud at Namco to have been one of the first ever to have run this type of mobile gaming tournament, starting with mobile, and going full circle back to our arcade roots. We've been thrilled by the response to the competition across all of the competing countries and we're looking forward to actually meeting our most ardent fans, the finalists. The Grand Final in London promises to be suitably climactic event."
