For Immediate Release:
December 5th 2005. Namco Europe's Web & Mobile Content division announces PAC-MANIATM, the 3D sequel to the world famous video game PAC-MANTM. This latest game in the PAC-MAN series and the first in 3D, takes the game to new heights, allowing players to jump over those hungry ghosts to escape.
In PAC-MANIA, PAC-MAN can jump in all four directions. Competitors now have to keep an eye out for bonus fruits and foods like ice cream, hamburgers and coffee, which can add to PAC-MAN's points, increase his speed, or the height of his jumps. In addition to the antics of Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde there are now three athletic new ghosts who can also jump and try to nab PAC-MAN in a sneaky ambush.
Since the first arcade game was released in 1980, PAC-MAN has provided countless players with millions of hours of fun. PAC-MANIA was PAC-MAN's first leap into 3D, released into arcades in 1987. Keeping the same great gameplay and making use of the more powerful hardware which was available, PAC-MANIA gave fans of the existing titles a brand new challenge, as well as attracting a new generation of fans worldwide. Now in 2005, with more powerful mobile phone handsets and larger, full colour screens, PAC-MANIA will give mobile owners the chance to enjoy PAC-MAN in an entirely new way, with all new range of environments and mazes, along with another relentlessly catchy soundtrack.
PAC-MANIA will be available for a wide range of JAVA-enabled mobile handsets throughout Europe from December 2005.
Pramesh Chauhan, the Head of Business Development for Namco Europe's Web & Mobile Content division, said, "Every person who's ever played PAC-MAN will be able to pick up and play PAC-MANIA within seconds. As gaming on mobile phones continues to penetrate the mass-market, there will be an increasing demand for simple, fun and compelling games with instantly recognisable brands and characters. PAC-MANIA fits every single one of those requirements and we're looking forward to its release enormously."
