3motion | April 27th. 3motionTM is a brand new gesture-based system which allows users to control and interact with console and mobile video games through simple and intuitive actions.
3motion is wireless, compact and incredibly versatile. The system can be used to control a huge range of game genres, from simple puzzle titles through to the latest complex First-Person Shooter (FPS) games.
Players use 'gestures' to control a game. From casting a spell, to controlling a car or aeroplane or even writing letters, the 3motion system is perfect for the mass-market, allowing novices and non-gamers to pick up and play a game within minutes.
The success of input devices such as dance mats and Sony's EyeToyTM shows that the market is wide open for systems which can be used and enjoyed by a truly mass-market audience. Indeed rumour and speculation abound that Nintendo will include some form of wireless, motion-based control system in their new 'Revolution' console, specifically to broaden the appeal of the console into new areas.
The 3motion system is simple, scalable, can be adapted for almost any situation and tailored for almost every game and every audience, from the complete beginner to the hard-core gamer.
The small unit size and low power requirements of 3motion also make it perfect for inclusion in mobile devices, from phone handsets to consoles. Imagine being able to use your phone as a virtual golf club, tennis racket, light sabre or magic wand. A separate 3motion SDK is also available to allow developers to easily "gesture enable" a range of input devices.
Unlike many dedicated or novelty controllers, 3motion is not limited to only a single title, or a narrow genre. It represents a new generation of universal controller which offer a revolution in gaming.
The 3motion system is being launched exclusively at E3 2005.
We would like to talk to peripheral manufacturers, developers, publishers, console manufacturers, mobile device manufacturers and other partners who are interested in learning more about the future of video game interaction.
