Manchester, United Kingdom - 3rd February 2005 - Publisher Player One releases Ronnie O'Sullivan Snooker developed by Rockpool Games' Manchester Studios.
Licensed from the World Number two Snooker player, Ronnie O'Sullivan, the game offers a breath-taking array of features and utilises a clever 3D engine while not requiring the latest generation of 3D capable phones.
The game, which is available for a large array of mass-market handsets pits your skills again those of Ronnie 'The Rocket' using a complete set of official snooker rules, accurate ball and cue physics. Game play is extremely realistic and allows you to apply Backspin, topspin and sidespin (English) whilst making your shots. Also included are a full Snooker championship mode and a "Ronnie's Snooker Hall" sub game where you can challenge Ronnie and his friends to challenges such as 'Trick Shot', "Pot the Colours" and "Black Break Challenge".
Rockpool Director, Alex Rigby, commented on the technology, "We're delighted at the results of our 3D engine which runs without the need for any specialist 3D hardware. We specifically coded the engine to work on the largest number of handsets and the graphical results range from fully-filled polygons to wire-frame modes depending on the power of the device."
Martin Ogden, Business Development Director for Player One, added: "We're delighted with the results of Rockpool's development on The Ronnie O'Sullivan Snooker game. It's an innovative title, worthy of the license and which we hope will excite both mobile phone gamers and keen snooker fans."
Ronnie O'Sullivan's Snooker, the mobile game, will be available Q1, 2006 and will be available for a wide range of phones on the major networks.
