Playlogic | PRESS RELEASE
Tokyo/Amsterdam, 6 June 2005 - Today, Playlogic International N.V. and Club iT Corporation announce that they have agreed to a cooperation to make all Playlogic's current and future titles available on demand for gamers through broadband connected devices.
The first four titles, currently being technically evaluated, to be ported to the G-cluster platform are: World Racing 2, Knights of the Temple II, Gene Troopers and Xyanide. Other titles will be ported in the future.
The G-cluster platform will offer promotional pre-releases of these titles in Japan. G-Cluster and Playlogic intend a simultaneous release of both the boxed Japanese product and the narrowcast G-cluster version.
Thomas Schmidt, VP Strategy and Development of G-cluster: "We are very impressed with Playlogic's line-up. They have great titles and we have every reason to believe that they will maintain this level of quality. There's a very good fit in terms of both content and culture."
G-cluster will be a target platform for Playlogic's content. Stefan Layer, VP/COO of Playlogic: "We see G-cluster as part of our core distribution strategy. The G-cluster platform allows us to target digital TV homes with our content, not just homes with high-end PCs and consoles. This allows us to reach new audiences and monetize our products more effectively."
About G-cluster
G-cluster offers Gaming-on-Demand (GoD) for broadband networks. A dedicated grid of game servers enables the latest video games to be played on-demand with any broadband-connected device, including existing digital cable and IPTV set-top boxes, entry level PCs, and 3G mobile phones.
In the case of digital cable and IPTV deployments, G-cluster GoD allows network operators and MSOs to leverage investment already made in video-on-demand (VoD) infrastructure. There is no need for upgrades to customer premise equipment.
All existing and future game titles can be brought to the G-cluster platform with minimal porting work. The server-centric nature of the system is particularly well suited to multiplayer and other community-building games. G-cluster is a wholly owned subsidiary of SOFTBANK Broadmedia Corporation ("SBBM", www.broadmedia.co.jp). For more information, go to http://www.g-cluster.com or email [email protected]
