Heroes of the Pacific, Red Mile's first game for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system, the Xbox video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PC platform, received four awards: Best Game of 2005, Best PC Game, Programming Excellence and Outstanding Visual Arts. The game's developer, IR Gurus of Melbourne, Australia, was presented with the awards at the event attended by game industry representatives from around the world.
Gripshift, Red Mile's first title for the PSPTM portable entertainment system, received three awards: Best Handheld Game, Best Game Design and Best Level Design. The awards were received by the developer of Gripshift, Sidhe Interactive of Wellington, New Zealand.

"The awards vindicate our belief that these studios are among the best up-and-coming game development studios in the world. We are delighted to have worked with them on these games and to continue our partnership for several of our upcoming titles."
Heroes of the Pacific is a World War II combat flight game set in the Pacific Theater. The game has had a tremendous response from the videogame press. PSE Magazine called it "...a property that can go toe-to-toe with the big boys" and featured the game on the cover of its November 2005 issue. TeamXbox.com said the game "...deserves a spot alongside such great WWII titles as the Call of Duty and Brothers in Arms franchises" and gave Heroes its Editors Choice Award.
"It's a great honor to receive such prestigious awards from the Australian Game Developers Conference," said Mike Fegan, CEO of IR Gurus. "The combination of the talent and industry of our team in Melbourne with the production management expertise of Red Mile has led to a great success, which we hope to repeat many times in the future together."
GripShift successfully fuses platform, driving and puzzle elements to create a unique gameplay experience for the PSPTM system. GripShift's design has been popular with media and gamers alike, including respected video game magazine Edge UK, which, in a recent review, described GripShift as "one of PSP's finest and full-featured games to date."
"GripShift was a labor of love for Sidhe. To have its originality and design values recognized and awarded by our peers is a fantastic validation," said Mario Wynands, Managing Director of Sidhe Interactive.
In its seventh year, the AGDC awards have been an important part of the Australian Game Developers Conference, which has worked to educate and acknowledge the vibrant game development scene in Australasia.
