Playism :

PLAYISM is proud to announce that Glaciered, the futuristic underwater soulslike action adventure by Studio Snowblind, has released a playable demo on Steam.

Following the overwhelmingly positive reception at Tokyo Game Show, the Steam demo is a new version with even more content than the event demo and is further polished for a better experience.

About the Demo

This demo starts from the very beginning of the full game, and features the core gameplay features of underwater battles and character growth mechanics. After you clear the demo, you can even explore a part of a new map, the Sea of Tranquility, where you can have a taste of what comes after.

The player character level is capped at Lv. 5 in the demo, but at your base, the Seeker's Hideout, you can experience the core gameplay loop: buy and craft items, unlock a wide variety of passive skills, raise your companion the Pui, and feed a giant mussel and receive equipment upgrade items in return.

The main purpose of this demo is to receive feedback from our players so that we can further improve the game during development. We've also set up an official Discord server for players to directly share feedback, so please join in and share your thoughts with us!

Over the duration of Tokyo Game Show, many players visited the PLAYISM booth to play the Glaciered event demo. Even early in the day, we already had so many visitors that we needed to give out numbered tickets for people to come back to the queue later. In order to let as many people play the game as possible, we shortened the play time of the demo as much as we could, but still we sometimes had to turn down people due to the long wait times. We're sorry we couldn't let everyone who wanted to play the game have a chance to try it out.

In order to let more people try out Glaciered, we carefully discussed releasing the demo to the public, and now we're confident that the timing is right.

We would love it if you could share your feedback with us on the Steam forums or the official Discord server. We'll take your opinions into consideration as we continue to work hard on development.

We also have an FAQ section in the Steam news that answers some questions we've already received so far, so please take a look at that when you play the demo as well!

About the Game

Glaciered takes place on Earth 65 million years in the future, where the "Everwinter" has transformed the planet's surface into a gigantic sheet of ice and life continues to survive under the glacier-covered seas.

Aquatic plants grow from glacier skies and colorful, bioluminescent fish light the seafloor. A new species prospers in this new golden age of life. They are the Tuai, descended from birds and successors of the dinosaurs. The superior intellect and unique metabolism they evolved over millions of years secured their prosperity in this icy environment. The great Ice Age that nurtures this bountiful ecosystem will survive for as long as the Everwinter persists.

Play as a Tuai fighting against that which has come to threaten the Everwinter.

■ Dynamic Underwater Action... and Your Sidekick the Pui!

Gray’s wings are weapons befitting the apex predators of the seas. They can slash and pierce enemies up close, or fire crystal feathers like bullets from afar. Attacking enemies with melee attacks causes Gray’s wings to heat up, and this heat can be used to unleash even more powerful attacks. What’s more, these wings can be swapped out for different ones, each with unique characteristics and abilities such as unguardable attacks or attacks that cover a wide area. Make good use of the wide range of abilities available to you to maneuver the seas, where both you and your enemies can attack from every direction.

And don’t forget the Pui, a symbiont of the Tuai. Your Pui will not only fight alongside you, but also provide a light source in dark areas in the form of the photophore on its forehead. By feeding your Pui various creatures you hunt on your journey, it can learn the abilities of those creatures and provide you with even better support. Cooperate with your Pui for a better chance of surviving against the dangers of the underwater world.

■ The Seeker’s Hideout – Your Base of Operations

Throughout your epic journey, you will use the Seeker's Hideout as your base of operations. You can replenish uses of your Healing skill by resting at the hideout, and eat food you obtain on your journey to raise your stats and grow stronger.

The hideout is also where you can craft and strengthen your wings, raise your Pui, and receive rewards for completing quests, among other things. If you find yourself struggling, you might want to head back to the hideout to take a break.

■ In the Distant Future Seas Ruled by Prehistoric-Looking Creatures...

The underwater world 65 million years in the future is riddled with all sorts of different creatures, including species that resemble prehistoric creatures that have long gone extinct, and never-before-seen creatures that have gone through unique forms of evolution.

The first area you will visit is the Sea of Tranquility, where dangerous enemies lay in wait for Gray in underwater caves. And once night falls, the sea becomes enveloped in darkness, and nocturnal creatures like the poisonous Gish emerge from their slumber.

In order to fulfill the Seeker’s mission, Gray will have to risk their life to navigate hostile environments and even more hostile enemies.
