Notes to Editors

Who is The Council?

A body of games industry figures formed to select the games featured in PC Gamer's Most Wanted. The Council includes:

  • Contemporary and legendary game developers

  • Gaming content creators from Twitch and YouTube

  • Special-issue advocates within gaming

  • Gaming voice actors

  • Gaming hardware experts

  • PC Gamer editors and fellow game critics

How is the Most Wanted list determined?

Votes by The Council are tabulated using a proprietary algorithm developed based on a system called Bayesian averaging. We've taken care to assure this model does not produce a popularity contest. The Most Wanted algorithm takes into account how certain a game's release date is, for example, rewarding games that are imminent and unlikely to be delayed.

Based on their technical knowledge, and artistic impression of a game, and their own personal taste, voters judge unreleased games on a 1-5 point scale, abstaining from voting on any games they or their companies are associated with.
