Los Angeles, 21st October 2005 - Gizmondo USA Inc. subsidiary of Jacksonville, Florida-based Tiger Telematics Inc (other OTC, TGTL) today kicked off the launch campaign for the new multi-entertainment handheld console with a full-page advertisement in USA Today (page 5a), featuring Austin Powers star, Verne Troyer.
The Gizmondo will go on sale across all 50 States from Saturday 22nd October 2005, priced at $229. There will be fourteen games available at launch, as well as the previously announced satellite navigation package which takes advantage of the hardware's powerful GPS functionality.
As well as games and GPS, the pocket-sized device's entertainment arsenal also features music and movies, text and picture messaging, and a digital camera. With an email service also launching next week, the Gizmondo is the most versatile and feature-packed gaming console available.
Mike Carrender, CEO, Tiger Telematics, offered: "The USA is the most challenging commercial market in the world and it's a significant achievement to be launching across 50 States tomorrow."
As well as being available in country-wide mall locations, the Gizmondo is also available to purchase from tomorrow via the website at www.gizmondo.com.
Gizmondo is powered by Microsoft Windows CE advanced real-time operating system, boasting a 2.8-inch TFT colour screen with a Samsung ARM9 400Mhz processor and incorporates the GoForce 3D 4500 NVIDIA graphics accelerator. It provides cutting-edge gaming, multimedia messaging, an MP3 music player, Mpeg4 movie playing capability, a digital camera and a GPRS network link to allow wide-area network gaming. Additionally, it contains a GPS chip for location-based services, is equipped with Bluetooth for use in multi-player gaming and accepts SD and MMC card accessories.
