Tira | TORONTO - March 8, 2005 - Tira Wireless, the premier provider of porting technology for the mobile content market, today announced the launch of the Tira Developer Network, an online community resource (www.TiraDeveloper.com) designed to help developers create portable mobile Java games and applications. This content-rich site provides developers with free access to Tira's extensive mobile device database and use of its automated verification server (AVS) for debugging mobile content.
"The market for mobile content is growing at an explosive pace, and as a result, publishers are demanding well-built applications that can be easily ported at a lower cost," said Allen Lau, CTO and co-founder of Tira Wireless. "Like the Tira Jump Product Suite, the Tira Developer Network is a building block that underlies our strategy to enable the mobile market to overcome the challenges of device fragmentation."
According to David Adams, president of Dallas, Texas-based Klear Games, "The developer network is the only online community resource dedicated to dealing with the portability of mobile games and applications. It is an invaluable source of tools and information for developers that want to get their mobile content accepted by leading publishers and into global distribution"
Features of the Tira Developer Network include:
Device database: Developers get an at-a-glance view of information on over 150 different devices from a variety of handset manufacturers. The database provides developers with information on device memory capabilities, screen size, resolution, and more, thereby eliminating the need to visit individual Web sites for top-level details on leading devices.
The Automated Verification Server (AVS): This is a real-time analysis tool that developers can use at no cost to debug J2ME applications. AVS performs over 60 different tests, enabling users to evaluate applications for compliance to MIDP and CDLC standards prior to porting. It also verifies applications against standards and requirements set out by each individual handset manufacturer for their specific devices.
Developer Guidelines: The sound development guidelines provided on the Tira Developer Network ensure applications are designed and developed in a manner that facilitates porting.
Industry Forum: The Tira Developer Network provides a dedicated forum on issues related to porting, providing developers with an opportunity to communicate with Tira and other members of the mobile development community. The moderated forum will also offer insight from authorities in the mobile market, such as Allen Lau, who is considered a pioneer in code instrumentation and aspect oriented programming techniques related to mobile Java.
Developers who register on the Tira Developer Network by March 31, 2005 will be entered in a draw to win an iPod.
