Bristol UK – February 14th 2022. Trolley Problem, Inc. is a brilliant, thought-provoking new narrative adventure game from Samuel Read-Graves, the executive producer of Gang Beasts, coming to PC this April. With subject matter based on genuine philosophical papers, players will make pressure decisions on who lives, who dies and just what free will is.

See the Introducing Trolley Problem, Inc. trailer here.

Players are initially assessed as new recruits to Trolley Problem, Inc. – their suitability for employment determined through some initial introductory problem solving which only affects the lives of a few people and a dog. Two choices are offered – then a countdown begins, with the game challenging the section of the player as the clock ticks down. Justifying your decisions to any family or friends watching you? Well, that’s your own problem.

With scenarios that challenge opinions on the medical profession, combat, corporate espionage, nuclear war, religion… even the nature of decision making itself, Trolley Problem, Inc. will take players on a journey which could ultimately change how they view the concept of free will.

Each of the game’s 55 questions is based on a genuine philosophical paper, with references appearing in-game which can be bookmarked and read later in detail.  The game will also compare the player’s choice with the rest of the world, offering a glimpse into the psyche of everyone who has played the game, with decisions shared and aggregated worldwide.

It’s an intensely challenging hour and three quarters, which has been designed to provoke discussion around some serious moral and ethical issues – but presented in a manner which is intelligent, self-referential and darkly comic. It can be enjoyed alone, among households or online, where specific Twitch options will enable streamers to interact with a live viewing audience and discuss which options are the least bad.

Trolley Problem, Inc. is an entertaining, thought-provoking, challenging interactive experience, which will take players on a rollercoaster of emotions,” says Samuel Read-Graves, developer, Trolley Problem, Inc. “We’re taking genuine ethical and philosophical dilemmas and bringing them to a whole new audience, in a form which can only be possible in a game. I cannot wait to start seeing how the world votes on some morally difficult questions – it’s going to be really interesting to see the world’s moral compass take shape.”
Features:

  • 55 intensely thought-provoking multiple choice questions across a 90 minute playtime

  • Streamer mode allows content creators to engage with a live viewing audience

  • Multiple profiles allow local players to compare and discuss their choice – whilst global statistics reflect the choices players across the world have made

  • References to the original philosophical papers.

  • A host of unlockables to discover throughout the game

  • The strangest ‘Achievements’ ever featured

Trolley Problem, Inc. can be wish listed on Steam now.
