Organizers of GDC 2011 have announced an affiliated two-day crash course for Scrum development on Feb 28th and March 1st, led by Clinton Keith, author of "Agile Game Development With Scrum." Clinton Keith has over 15 years of experience in the industry, five of which have been spent applying Scrum to video game development. He has worked on titles including Midnight Club, Darkwatch, and Bourne Conspiracy. Keith's two-day course will be held separately and offsite from GDC 2011, and will cover a number the fundamentals of Scrum with relevance to video game development, giving attendees a chance to get hands-on experience working with the agile development strategy. The course aims to demonstrate how Scrum can fundamentally improve a studio's development strategy by making sure projects stay on track and within budget. Some of the key goals for the course include teaching game developers how to start a project on the right foot, explaining how to plan future releases, and demonstrating how to work effectively with team members across a variety of disciplines. The event will be held February 28 to March 1, the same week as GDC 2011, at the Marriott hotel in downtown San Francisco. Seats are limited, and are available for $1,250 until February 1, after which seats will cost $1,500 -- discounts are available for groups of four or more. Interested parties can register for the event now, or can look here for more information. This year's Game Developers Conference – the 25th anniversary of the industry-leading show – will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco from February 28 to March 4, with pre-show registration open until February 27. For more information on all aspects of the show, including the Certified Scrum Master Course, visit the official GDC 2011 website.
