Film producer and British House of Lords labor peer David Puttnam has challenged serious game developers to produce applications relating to the fight against global warming. "Serious games based upon real-life geography should be vital tools in our fight against climate change," Puttnam said in a recent press statement. "Educating people about the impact of prolonged changes to our climate in an accessible way is the best catalyst for action I know." Puttnam, a noted advocate of global warming education and research, emphasizes that climate change issues must remain a high political priority, despite recent economic problems worldwide. Recently, Puttnam has encouraged the use of technology to educate both children and adults on the effects of global warming. Puttnam is expected to speak further about serious games development in his keynote speech at the environmental discussion event Terra future 2009, to be held on February 24th and 25th at the Royal Geographical Society in London.
