Newsbrief: Released today, CAAT (Canvas Advanced Animation Toolkit) is a new HTML5 game engine that's designed to enable developers to bring their titles to market faster, thanks to pre-designed code snippets. CAAT is a Javascript-based, multi-instance, director-driven Scene Graph Manager. It's meant to be a complete gaming framework with on-screen entities, custom matrix stacks, game loop hooks, scenes, complex paths, assignable behaviors, and more. Developed by Ludei, the San Francisco-based maker of HTML5 game development platorm CocoonJS, the new toolset is available as open source, allowing both iOS, browser, and multi-platform developers to modify and fork it to fit their needs. Ludei says that this release completes its suite of HTML5 game tools, which includes its CocoonJS platform for API acceleration and enhancement, its monetization engine, and its cloud compiler for cross-platform builds. Tutorials, demos, and more information on using CAAT are available here.
