The Simulation Division of the Environmental Tectonics Corporation has announced that it has reached an agreement with fire fighting vehicle manufacturer Rosenbauer International A.G. to produce training simulations for High Reach Extendable Turrets-equipped fire trucks. High Reach Extendable Turrets (HRETs) are used primarily in fighting airport and industrial fires. The turret is mounted on a hydraulic boom arm on the top of a fire truck, and is controlled via joystick. The arm is able to penetrate aircraft fuselage and spray dousing agent onto fires within the plane's interior. The Environmental Tectonics Corporation's training simulation (entitled HRET-SIM) will allow fire fighters to train in HRET-related scenarios that would not otherwise be possible to recreate in the real world, given the cost involved and the possibility of wear-and-tear on equipment. "We are proud to work with Rosenbauer," said ETC's Simulation Division President, Marco van Wijngaarden. "The HRET-SIM will be developed in close cooperation between both companies. We are confident that this new simulator will offer essential and valuable training for the fire fighters in the so-called 'hot seat,' who have to operate the HRET under stressful conditions. We are looking forward to a long partnership with Rosenbauer, as we have a mutual mission to deliver innovative, high-value solutions to emergency responders." HRET-SIM is built using the Advanced Disaster Management Simulator platform, a development application dedicated to simulating emergency crew procedure and response in disaster situations.
