The George Mason University, Simulation and Game Design Institute (SGI) in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) seeks qualified applicants for a Senior Project Manager.

Responsibilities:
The role of the Senior Project Manager is to provide professional project management, quality assurance, and all aspects of overseeing the successful completion of applied-research game-related projects between undergraduate and graduate (internships, classroom, wage and sponsored) development teams, and internal and external SGI clients. The Senior Project Manager will achieve operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; and determining system improvements. In addition, the Senior Project Manager of SGI will meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing project budgets; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; and initiating corrective actions for each SGI project so they are completed on-time and on-budget. Moreover, the chosen candidate will enhance the SGI, the Computer Game Design Program’s and CVPA’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring additional project opportunities to contribute additional value to the role of the SGI Senior Project Manager. Lastly, the Senior Project Manager will teach three undergraduate courses per academic year for the Computer Game Design Program.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate and manage all projects, timelines, asset development, milestones, goals and budgets assigned by the SGI Director and Associate Director.
2. Help manage undergraduate and graduate student project team schedules (internships, classroom, wage and sponsored), assign project team roles, and help mentor team members.
3. Manage and track all project budgets including labor, materials, general and administrative, software and equipment to ensure all projects meet budget requirements and projects are completed on-time.
4. Communicate with SGI clients, students and administration as needed to ensure successful project completion.
5. Provide project presentations to clients as needed and SGI administration during all facets of the project development schedules.
6. Meet with clients, potential clients, executive advisory board members, and partners on behalf of the SGI Director.
7. Teach three undergraduate courses per year, as assigned by the program Director.

Additional Functions:
Review operating practices and procedures in order to determine whether improvements can be made in areas such as workflow, reporting procedures, or expenditures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Extensive knowledge of project management, quality assurance, ISO 9000 standards, and/or Capability Maturity Model Integration application life cycle processes, and business presentation software applications.
2. Knowledge of game design, game production, and game publishing.
3. Possess an approach that fosters a respectful, nonthreatening workplace environment.
4. Has a demonstrated commitment and ability to work collaboratively within a complex work environment.

Qualifications:
1. A bachelor’s degree is required.
2. Five years or more (preferred) of professional project management experience, preferably with serious or entertainment games and simulation project management, with a proven track-record of accomplishments.
3. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills are required.
4. Proven critical-thinking, problem-solving, and judgment skills.
