Today at NYGC13 it was revealed that video games hold the lion share of digital sales across all media. Video games hold a 42% share of the digital marketplace, the largest piece of the pie, with music at a close second with 32%. This is evidenced by an ever growing amount of digital retailers like SteamXbox Live ArcadePlayStation Store, Google Play, and the iOS App Store.

The size of the digital game market is a staggering figure, and it will continue to grow. There’s tons of potential for trimming away the cost of physical media and making game development and publishing more lucrative as we start seeing an even higher adoption of digital media.
