At last, signs of new life begin to show in the Australian retail charts, as two genuinely new games make their debut this week. The first is Sony's Shadow of the Colossus, belatedly released in PAL territories to a warm reception, as the game makes its appearance at #3. The other is Star Wars: Empire At War, which LucasArts was kind enough to release concurrently with the North American version: the PC real-time strategy game fared less well, but still managed a respectable top 10 showing at #9 in its first week. Apart from those, however, it's the same old story: Need for Speed Underground and Buzz: The Music Quiz Bundle at #1 and #2, while EyeToy: Play 3, SingStar 80s Bundle, and Ricky Ponting International Cricket 05 ambling up and down the charts. Here's hoping the coming weeks will see more titles on the chart that originated during 2006.
